Color forecasters predict that the trendy color this year will be “plain vanilla” – something that is safe, traditional, and comforting. But the vanilla will come with some flashes of bright colors – from radiant orchid, to cayenne, and dazzling blue.

Neutral colors seem to be the choice for the larger purchases – things like the sofa and the carpet. Again, the neutral colors can be accented with bright colors such as acid green or violet tulip. Color forecasters unanimously agree that neutral colors are THE color of choice this year, either as standalone monochromatic one’s, or as bases for brighter hues.

Brown, the all-time favourite for all kinds of interiors – home, industry or institution, is seeing a mild change. The chocolate brown is being replaced by the lighter brown – such as the brown color of spices and beverages. Grey, however, is expected to surpass brown in popularity, especially the metallic and the pearlescent accents.

And then there is the quintessential green that is becoming a favourite for the eco-friendly.Various shades of green are showing up in everything from sofa fabrics to curtains, to counter-tops.

Blue – the color that denotes consistency and stability – is seen in almost every home décor product, and can also be paired with some other colors such as brown.

Pink and red are finding their place in homes that reflect vibrancy. Pink can be found in a romantic bedroom, in a modern girl’s living room, and even in the kitchen.

The combination of black and white had been very popular in Europe for the last few years, but it seems like this combination is slowly losing its charm. It has been suggested that this combination of black and white be complemented with some hot accent colors such as acid green or dazzling blue to create the latest look.

The colors to avoid this season:

This year, avoid investing in the true yellows – these are not “en vogue” this spring. Orange is another color that is best avoided this season. If you are a real admirer of orange and cannot do without it, then do go for corals or an earthy, deep orange. Remember to use them only as accents, and not as standalone.

Soft lavenders and true purples are taking a back seat, and do not go for those if you want the latest look for your home.

Follow these suggestions, and show off your style by becoming a trend-setter this season.
